Hey friends,
Welcome to the very first edition of The Weekly Focus, brought to you by Peak Focus 👋
Each week, I’ll be sharing ideas, tools, and practical tips to help you stay focused, beat procrastination, and make real progress on the things that matter — whether that’s uni work, side projects, or just showing up as your best self.
This week we’re diving into something I know we all struggle with from time to time: how to rebuild focus after falling off track. (Spoiler: it happens to everyone, even the productivity nerds like me.)
Let’s get into it 👇
We all lose focus sometimes. Here’s a simple 3-step reset I use:
- Declutter your space – a tidy desk clears the mind.
- Re-establish your anchors – start the day with one non-negotiable.
- Time-block your next 3 days – not perfect, just planned.
Start small. Build momentum. Let me know if you try it ✌️
Stressed and Overwhelmed: 10 Learnings That Changed How I Think About Emotions
I came across this powerful article by Brene Brown, based on her 2022 book Atlas of the Heart, where she talks about the difference between stress and overwhelm. It's something I think a lot of us miss—stress is when we're barely managing, and overwhelm is when we feel like everything is too much to handle. Brown highlights how important it is to name our emotions because doing so helps us manage them. When I read this, I immediately thought about how easy it is to confuse stress with overwhelm and how it affects our ability to reset and refocus.
"I always assumed that my emotions responded to my body freaking out. But really, my emotions are responding to my “thinking” assessment of how well I can handle something."
For me, reading her distinction was a wake-up call. It’s not just about feeling stressed or overwhelmed; it's about understanding the root of it and breaking it down. Her advice on "non-doing"—taking time to step away from everything and clear your mind—reminded me of the decluttering step I mentioned earlier. It's about giving ourselves the space to breathe, reset, and then tackle what’s next.
If you’re struggling with that overwhelmed feeling, like I sometimes do, I recommend checking out her article. It has some really insightful advice on navigating these feelings and helping you come back to center.
See you next week!
